Your vision.
Realized through technology.
Having a Tech plan eliminates uncertainty of how everything will come together. It also takes the technology you are already using and maximizing its potential.
Technology is at the
core of every
human experience.
There are a lot of decisions that go into starting a commercial project. Often times the topic of technology is not broached until after the design is complete. The only mention of technology is found in the Electrical Engineer's Submittal as a line item connected to a few pages. This is unfortunate, because at the core of every design decision is a desire to appeal to the human experience. From structural safety to the esthetics of a building, decisions related to how a project is perceived by its intended user are being carefully weighted.
Since the 80s we have been in an era of continuous development of new technologies and innovation designed to make our lives easier. But recently technology has expanded beyond convenience to bring about personalized experiences in home, the workplace, at shopping malls, and online. So, if you as the Client are making decisions to appeal to the intended user — why is technology not considered earlier in the construction process?
The answer is simple. You, the client, are not asking for it. The Construction industry is an institution and like all institutions, change only comes when pressure is put on it to do so. If you do not put an emphasis on technology as a part of the design process, they will only see it as a peripheral item to be considered after they have done their part.
TD&I Design has its roots in low-voltage integration. Because of our passion for technology, we were often called in to fix tech issues after a project was completed. The problem always came down to the difference between what the client thought they were getting and what the design team thought the client was asking for. This results in high unexpected expenses and frustration between the client and the design team.
"The first time you experience our turn key experience is the last time you will develop a commercial project without making tech planning a priority."
— TD&I DesignHere is
the Rub.
You as the client are under the assumption that the arch and eng understand technology. The arch believe engineers and interior designers are responsible for tech implementation and eng's and interior designers believe electrician, network specialist, and low voltage integrators understand how tech works because they can install it. But if you ask them individually, they will tell you they are not technology experts.
Technology Planning —
our role.
Technology planning is an Added Value to any construction project. It is important to understand our role is not to determine materials, products, pricing or general floor plan layouts that may impact design processes or budgets. We work with each member of the design teams to ensure the full vision of the client is realized.
We work alongside every member of the design team — architects, engineers, interior designers, and contractors — to ensure the client's full technology vision is realized without conflict or assumption.
We do extensive research on the client and the industry they represent. We identify all possible end user experiences and design accordingly. Our designs feel and look custom because they are.
With every system design, integration across multiple platforms is a part of our design philosophy. Every Tech Plan incorporates intuitive operational design and streamlined end user interfaces which allow for full functionality over multiple platforms.
Three stages.
One seamless experience.
We join the project at the design phase — before decisions are locked. Design is the first of three stages needed for a successful turn key experience. We research your goals, your users, and your industry to create a comprehensive technology blueprint that integrates with every other discipline.
Our role changes to advisory during construction — helping the GC identify qualified trades, answer all RFI's, and ensure wiring and network integrity.
Our commitment does not end when the project is complete. We provide onsite training and follow up support to ensure every system performs exactly as designed. The first time you experience our turn key experience is the last time you will develop a commercial project without making tech planning a priority.
Consultive by nature.
Custom by design.
Our designs feel and look custom because they are. Our role is consultive in nature and we seek to understand beyond the technology. We do extensive research on the client and the industry they represent. We identify all possible end user experiences and design accordingly.
Also, our role does not end at the submittal stage of the project. Design is the first of three stages needed for a successful turn key experience. Our role changes to advisory during construction to helping GC identify qualified trades, answer all RFI's, and ensure wiring and network integrity. Once project is completed, we provide onsite training and follow up support.
With every system design, Integration across multiple platforms is a part of our design philosophy and is what separates us from other companies. Every Tech Plan incorporates intuitive operational design and streamlined end user interfaces which allow for full functionality over multiple platforms.
